About

The Part-Time Track of Crosspoint School of Ministry is designed for working adults who feel called to ministry and leadership but need a flexible path to get there. This program focuses on biblical education and spiritual formation, helping students grow in their faith, deepen their understanding of Scripture, and develop practical ministry skills, all while staying engaged in their current jobs, families, and local churches. In partnership with Evangel University, students can earn college credit and work toward ministerial credentials at a pace that fits their lives.

  • “Evangel University is a comprehensive Christian university committed to excellence in educating and equipping students to become Spirit-empowered servants of God who impact the Church and society globally.”

  • “The following assumptions are basic to the Evangel University program:

    • The pursuit of truth, regardless of where it is found, is a basic commitment of the University. As a community of scholars and students, the University seeks to discover, apply, and communicate that truth.

    • An individual’s personality grows and develops through commitment to Christ and the search for truth.

    • Biblical truth should be central and integrated into all the curricular, co-curricular, extracurricular, and living experiences of students.

    • Faith and reason are viewed as complementary, and both are necessary in the search for truth. Thus, students can integrate biblical Christianity with humanities, arts, sciences, behavioral sciences, social sciences, and specialized subjects.

    • In teaching, learning, and serving, quality is fundamental to all areas of the University. The entire University community accepts ownership in the processes of developing the academic, spiritual, and social lives of Evangel students.”

  • “At Evangel University, we emphasize ideas, values, awareness, and appreciation in our students. As a result, we encourage all of our students to achieve the following objectives:

    • To think clearly, reason logically, and communicate effectively as a free individual who knows Christ as Lord

    • To appreciate the beauty of nature, the arts, and literature through the humanities

    • To understand the physical universe through the sciences in the light of biblical and natural revelation

    • To be an active and contributing part of the life of the church and the community

    • To evaluate the moral universe and live by the highest values

    • To maintain a healthy and vigorous body as an instrument for good

    • To prepare for professional postgraduate study or a meaningful career

    • To encourage understanding and appreciation for the multicultural heritage of humankind

    • To develop a social awareness and compassion for human need through a study of the social sciences”

While part-time students complete their biblical education through online courses, they gather each Monday for “Evangel Evenings”—a time of discussion, connection, and practical application of what they’re learning. This weekly gathering fosters community, spiritual growth, and hands-on ministry insight, helping students bridge the gap between knowledge and real-life leadership. Through these evenings, students receive encouragement, mentorship, and guidance as they pursue their calling, all while staying rooted in their local church and everyday life.

Outcomes

Upon completing the Crosspoint School of Ministry part-time ministry track, students will:

  • Develop strong theological foundations and practical ministry skills essential for effective service.

  • Grow in spiritual maturity, cultivating essential disciplines such as prayer, worship, evangelism, and biblical study.

  • Be equipped to lead in their home church or launch into full-time ministry roles.

Evangel Evenings

Evangel Evenings are the heart of the part-time track at Crosspoint School of Ministry. While students complete their coursework online through Evangel University, Evangel Evenings provide the space for in-person connection, discussion, and application. Here’s how it works:

  • Students focus on just one course at a time, making the workload manageable for those balancing jobs, families, and ministry.

  • Each Monday, students meet together for Evangel Evening—a dedicated time to discuss what they're learning, ask questions, and apply biblical concepts to real-life ministry.

  • At the start of each new class (every quarter), a new facilitator—often a pastor, ministry leader, or educator—leads the discussions and offers practical insight from their own ministry experience.

  • These evenings aren’t just academic—they’re relational and formational. Students are encouraged, challenged, and supported as they grow in faith and leadership together.
